HOW EXCITING!!!

ok, this might sound a little more girly than I usually sound but EEEEEKKKK!!!!! I got my seceret santa yarn exchange person today! I am sooooo excited! I think I'll be spending my whole weekend trying to figure out what to send! I dont want to say much but it'll be the first time I have done one of these groups so I am REALLY excited about it! I even designed the banner for the group (at least I think they're using it). I really hope my person likes the things I plan on sending!

On the other side of life, my moms socks are almost done and I am just extatic about that! I'm that much closer to xmas being done! This is the first year I have multiple projects on the list for people. I did scarves for my inlaws last year, but that was it.

OH I want to go to the lys now! Maybe they can give me some good ideas too! FUN!!!!
I am putting this pic us because not only did I take it but it was a kick ass weekend for me and the girls! and I really wish it was this nice out right now!
It was taken just as you drive into Duluth MN, ahhh that weekend rocked! I can't wait for the next one!

Well that is about it for this week, I have to get back to work, BUT it's suposed to snow up to 10 inches this weekend! (our first snow) So I might get to drive the jeep and plow the lot!

have a great weekend everyone!

I am an addict

I am a yarn addict. I love yarn and all things having to do with yarn!
I went to my lys last night and got some great new yarn.

I am way excited to use them! I also brought in the bag I've been working on to take some pics of that!

I appoligize for not having more pics up lately, It's been a pain to get them on the server. I really just need to get it on my own server.

I am really excited to get more stuff going! I have soo many things I want to do and not nearly enough time in the day to do it.

But I did sign up for my first yarn swap/ sec. santa thing today so hopefully that will work out well!

Oh and Lili's fever broke, I think it's cause I brought her more yarn home (non of my yarn is actually mine, it's all hers, and she doesn't let anyone but her or I touch it and in the case of Joe last night even look at it! - gotta love little sisters!)

Let's hope it doesn't snow this weekend! I have too many places to be at one time!
Nov. has gone by entirely to quickly.

oh and a big hug to "Joshy" and his family for the weekend ahead, We love you and are here if you need anything!

28 November 2007

how many days left?

Although it has not totally hit me yet that there are so few days left before xmas and I am soo far behind on my knitting. AHHH what is a person to do! I'm sure it'll be fine!

So the good news first: Lili is feeling better, I think her temp has broke finally!
AND...
THE BAD:
I am missing my sz 2 dpn bamboo needle. Only one of them, but I have socks cast on and dont want change to my metal 2dpn for fear of massive gauge change.... I'm thinking of putting up a missing person sign!

Anyhow, I am going to a lys tonight I haven't gotten any new yarn this month so I think I deserve it!
I think I'll go and see whos got what I want! taa taa for now!

My poor baby

I woke up today with my littlest one burning up. It's amazing how the older she gets the more "dramatic" sickness is. But she was actually able to tell me that her tummy hurt :(
So Daddy stayed home with her today and I came into work. I did get the second sock co for the strippy socks and I am getting further on Jodi's project. I am really hoping that I can get a ton of stuff done here before xmas! So much sewing and knitting I'm gonna go crazy. Not to mention the fact that I haven't gone to a lys this month at all... and I am starting to feel some severe pain! I REALLY want to get out and go! Hopefully this weekend! I'll have some of my stuff in 2 craft shows so I will be using the procedes to feed my yarn cravings! Anyhow I will share the cutest pic of Lili takin before thanksgiving! She is my little actress!

26 November 2007

It's almost Christmas

So I can not beleive that my Thanksgiving holiday is over (LOTS OF LOVE TO RICK AND SCOTT FOR ANOTHER KICK ASS THANKSGIVING!) I did a TON of sewing, for myself and I think I may have finally gave Adrienne the sewing bug! god knows its her fault I fell in love with that wonderful thing called yarn! I got a ton of xmas gifts nearly done, just have some finishing touches and what not to put on them! I didn't get a ton of sewing done but I did frog some things!
Lili was the greatest part! She can now sing her abc's, twinkle twinkle, and you are my sunshine by her self! not bad for a 2 year old huh? Before i turn around she will be 16 and driving! hell I only have 5 more years for joe to start driving. But i am starting to know and understand why adam's parents didn't let him drive BOYS ARE SCARY!
Anyhow, I didn't get in nearly enough yarn time but I think it was a successful weekend. OH and best of all!

Let me first say I have the best husband in the world! He asked me Sat if I needed anything from the store and I said "sure you can go to JoAnne for me and get some more yarn and fabric" Purly joking of course! HE AGREED! How cool is he? and yes, he went to JoAnne and matched my yarn I needed, and picked out some fabric, he even got me coordinating thread for it too and some nice stuff too! So here's to you honey!!!
and how cool am I to have such a great man! It tells me he really doens't mind my knitting/sewing!

21 November 2007

Does it feel like a Friday?

Sorry I haven't posted for a couple of days, I'm sure no one reads this anyhow....
but I am almost out of the office and I can't wait to have the 4 day weekend so I can get some stuff done. Weither it's the cleaning, the knitting, or the sewing and I do have a lot of each! Anyhow, I will try to get some fun pictures taken while I am at home this weekend.

Enjoy your Turkeys and be safe!

I have returned

First of all, Lili was sick this weekend so I haven't been able to get on. But now that she is better and I am back to work I must update on all the new EXCITING activity!

#1) I GOT ON RAVELRY!!!!! lioe is my username!
2) My sock knitting is moving along quiet well! I actually think I might have the projects atleast close to done by x-mas!
3) I got the ingredients to make my own drop spindle, I know it will be cheap and probably not the greatest, but I've got to start somewhere! AHH! I can't wait for that!

Probably enough good news for now, But I am still VERY excited, I even got all my totes cut out so know i just need a big sewing day (hopefully this weekend!) I'm going to my uncles' house for Thanksgiving! R&S I love them! They are the greatest guys! I couldn't have asked for cooler u-in-laws, and Stace (he's my way cool u-inlaw too!) might even come down from the great white north too! WAY EXCITING!! I haven't seen them in a while! I love that part of Adams family, although his mom and I dont always see eye to eye, the uncles are kick ass! (his mom is too when I see her - just stubborn! Maybe we're too much alike!). Needless to say I pretty much love all of adam's fam (not so much the bro but I will tolerate if need be). OK enough about the fam!

I am so stoked about ravelry. I've been adding what I can, I can already see it's going to take a while to "move in"! But maybe more people will read this! As for now I guess it's more like a journal or I'm just psycho and talking to myself! (i like that better! I am a tad crazy!)

anyhow! happy knitting!

Are there ever enough hours in a day?

I am purely determined that there will never be enough hours in a day for knitting! I think if the days were 78 hours long there still wouldn't be enough time! I got the mini peds done and am working on my scarf. It was fun to watch my kids last night sitting on the couch watching a movie. Lil kept asking me if i was watching. then she would get up and go see daddy, how cute!

I guess the winds out west have been pretty strong 70-90 mph! yuck! (my familyinlaws live out there) I am hoping to go there next summer (find some good washington yarn too!). San Juan Island. If you haven't been! GO! it's a nice place to visit! lots of wine and coffee! oh and when your there go pick up your lunch at the little store! Best food on the island (i'm really weird that way) and dont forget to pop into some stores! Even the grocery store is a nice place to go! Adam and I are going to retire out there, maybe on orcas (less people). I would love to wake up in the morning and see the ocean first thing! I have salty blood (no matter what adam thinks). Anyhow, HI to the islanders! miss you guys!

Oh! one more thing, I wont be able to put up a ton of pics of finished projects until after xmas, dont want to spoil surprises! But I will post what I can!

Cheers!

12 November 2007

It can't be monday again!

Lets see my weekend.... I had to frog the heel flap on the mini peds AGAIN! (seems to me I have to frog every heel flap atleast once!) the fiber gods are not happy with me or something! But I did start my haringbone scarf again... (this is like the 3rd time). I LOVE the pattern and the yarn that Adam gave me for xmas last year! (he actually went into a lys with his friend and got me some yarn! WHAT A MAN!) Minus that fact I have no idea what brand it is, or even what fibers it is but I LOVE IT! It is my fav. yarn and refuse to make something for anyone else but me! It's only fair!

I did make my nephew a weighted therapy blanket. It's a rough draft and by no means perfect but it' got 12 bean bags about .25 lbs apeice, and seperate pockets w/ velcro to close them. It turned out pretty well. I left the top flap free so it wouldn't put pressure on his head or neck, he can still cuddle with it, and we can add another row of b.bags when he gets bigger (he's almost 2).
If it doesn't work, i'll put gromits in it so it can hang on the wall and have a pretty cool storage unit! He'll get it today so we'll see if it helps.
Heck he loves me so much I think he may have given me the flu. I honestly feel like crap today! I want to go and curl up in my bed and sleep.

HEY THANKS FOR READING THIS!! POST A COMMENT so i know what you think!

Have a great weekend

Have a good weekend guys! Let's hope it doesn't snow anymore this weekend!
Hopefully I will have pics of my craft closet on Monday! And I will be working
on the actual website for my stuff! (i'm a web designer I should have a web site right?)

I'm outta here!

It's FINALLY done!!!!!!

Last night I finally finished Lili's blanket, I was going to wait for christmas to give it to her, but she has been bugging me for the last year and a half to take the needles out, so I gave it to her last night. She woke me up this morning dragging it behind her saying "my blankey, my blankey" in her little song voice! I love it to see her grow and get excited about things. Ahh I may be too proud!

So I also finished her hat, I did it with Kaita 100% cotton, yarn i got at the shop hop this year. I have decided that with her long thick fine hair, Cotton is NOT the way to go!

I think I will make her a warmer one (this was for cooler days anyway) out of the Noro I got at the hop too! So needless to say I was busy last night! Now I have some more socks to finish and all will be well!

I also think I'll dive into the stockenette waste land and try to work on the UFO scarves I need to finish! Oh and a Thanks to Carrie from Socks in the City for the comment! Check out her podcast (itunes) It keeps me laughing through the day! Adam can finally realize I'm not the only one who gets soo excited about new yarn!

08 November 2007

Miss Ya E!

I know it has only been a day since "E" was not at work (hopefully at home recovering - I'll call her tonight again) but I must say I miss her so! She sends me my daily email forwards that keep me entertained! I can honsetly say I am completely board with out her emails!

so to "E" COME BACK SOON! - just not too soon! soak up the attention a little and heal up good so we can party again soon! (what ever partying means to mom's with kids!) :)

ugh

It may be Thursday but it feels like a Monday! Slow and quiet. I think tonight is going to be the night I take over my new craft closet. We have 2 closets in our bed room and one is pretty much storage, so I am going to clean it out and make a proper place for my fabric, yarn, beads, and other crafts! It will be my own little paradise! HOW EXCITING!!!! Then I'll be doing the kids room, they both want bunk beds and since Joe's bed is a loft bed and Lili's crib converted to her toddler bed it should work out pretty well!

I'm sure you'll eventually figure out when in the right mood, I LOVE to organize or re-organize things in my house! I'll try to take pics of the closet if and when it gets finished! I am nearly ready to move into a house.... Pretty tired of appt living! I want to paint!

Anyhow, Lili's hat is coming along nicely and her blanket is only 11 rows from being done! The oldest UFO in the stash is nearly done I can't wait!!!!!

Have a good day peoples!

OH! here's a question:

If you could learn something new, what would it be?
-post a comment and let me know!

The never ending hat

I started another hat for Lili last night. This is only like the 12th hat I have started but I'm not frogging this one! It's cute!
Lili's hat is looking really cute so far. I'm using some cotton yarn (the name of it is at home) I found on the yarn store shop hop this year! It was my first year and oh yeah! I'll be doing it again next year! What fun!
I have decided that knitting makes me too excited, I HAVE to finish my projects this time, I keep finding new ones that I absolutely love and then I start those and don't finish the last one. BUT my goal is to have all of my UFOs done by the end of the year!
I did get one of the mini pedi socks for my mom done. Hopefully she'll like them!
And to start listing my projects... egh! too many to keep in my head now!

Anyhow I gave "E" her womb yesterday and she loved it! (thinking about her today - today is the day!) I can't wait to do more weird projects!

As of new projects.... I was asked by my sister to design some weighted socks for her son. (he's being tested for autism right now) but I think I have the design in my head, if so... it could be a submission to knitty! Cross your fingers for me! I'll be working on it this weekend!

REMEMBER PEOPLE:
A visit to the LYS (local yarn store) never hurt anyone!

CHEERS!

06 November 2007

yeah for me!

this might sound really weird for someone who has been knitting for nearly 2 years now, but I actually finished my first real pattern! I know I know.... I guess there have been other patterns (t. bears and what not) but ok my first knitty.com pattern.

A back story: my friend "E" is going in tomorrow for a hysterectomy. REALLY it's a good thing! but anyhow in my searches I found the PERFECT gift for her! I made the womb from knitty.com. It turned out super cute and I can't wait to give it to her! She is the only person in the world who I can make that for and who would LOVE it!

Needless to say I am VERY excited to give it to her! Good luck to her by the way, and we'll be "dancing" to tainted love in no time!!!!

Loves to you all!
CHEERS!

05 November 2007

It's Monday again!

so today is another Monday. quiet and slightly peaceful, I can hear the neighbors singing to Elvis next door!
It was a pretty interesting weekend. Friday night was gno (Girls Night Out), we try to meet once a month and have dinner and drinks. It was great to see everyone again! I really look forward to that night every month! I can't wait for Girls Weekend '08!

Sat. I had a craft show/fair with my mom and sister which was a disaster. but it was nice to get out and try to teach my sister to knit. I swear if I locked her in a room and she had no distractions she'd be great at knitting! it's fun to watch her.

Sun. I hung out with Lili, and oh finally got my yarn organized! (brands/ fibers) AHH it's refreshing and to have all my stash in front of me was oh so nice! I had forgotten about some of it!

As for my needles, I am finally to the last 20 rows on Lili's blanket, it was my first knitting project (the big bad baby blanket from stitch and bitch) Can I say it's been on the needles for a year and a half!? I frogged it like 6 times, and once my c.needle broke and I didn't notice until half the blanket was frogged! AHHH!!! So needles to say Lili REALLY wants her blanket. She even picked out the yarn which was a cheapo lions brand but it should work great for her.

NOTE: I started some of these projects before I entered my first lys and discovered the vastness of fiber! AHHH FIBER!!!!

other than that there are a couple of scarves in stockenette wasteland and the newest:

I am knitting/designing a pair of pedicure socks. (mini pedi's) they are a shorter cuffed ped sock for my mother. I got the yarn from Adrienne (the one who taught me to knit) I think she got it at knit picks but I'm not sure and she can't remember but it's a fun look and she should like them! (I'll post a pic when I'm done with each project!)

Anyhow enough of me today! have a great week!

CHEERS!

02 November 2007

Today is the day

So today is the day and I am starting my blog.
a little about myself? I'm 26 and new to kitting, well at least in the last year anyhow. I grew up in the twin cities (MN), normal family, pretty normal life. I went to high school in New Richmond WI (scary little town), but I did meet some of my best friends there! (AWSOME PEOPLE!)

it was in NR that I got my start in printing, have been pretty much doing it since, I've done magazines, balloons, and now.... digital! I run a digital printing/ lighting company with my dad and my husband. OH! yeah the husband - Adam. we met at the Art Institutes International MN, he's a animator (he'll have a site up soon) and I went for web design, yeah i know but ink is in my blood and I'll never totally give it up! Coding is like knitting lines of code in different designs!

We have 2 kids, Joe is almost 11 (yeah he's my "step" son, but I AM MOM!), and my little Lili, she's 2! Joe is learning to knit now, and really loves it, and Lili is my yarn baby. I started when she was small enough to lay on my legs and play with the ball of yarn while I knitted! I can't bring her to a yarn store without her getting excited. I admit she has picked out most of my yarn and she has a pretty good eye!

My family is the most important thing to me, and I love to create things for them. I try to keep as much music and art in our lives as possible. (Joe just started the trumpet - he's 3rd generation now).

Anyhow enough about me. I figured I'd use this space to show off my pieces, get some feed back and have some fun!
OH! I did just get my first pair of sock done last month (still proud) and I'm wearing them today!!!!!

Anyhow, I'll get a list of things I'm working on and things I've done and all the fun that goes with that!

CHEERS!
